Some East-enders might have noticed a sleek, 108m super yacht navigating the Thames Estuary in April on the way to its permanent mooring at the capital’s Royal Victoria Dock. Officially launching this week (1 July), the five-storey, 136-room Sunborn London will operate as a luxury hotel, sitting adjacent to partner venue ExCel London and targeting the corporate market as well as occasional leisure tourists at weekends.
A range of meeting and event spaces on board include a conference room for 250 theatre-style, a 50-seat auditorium, a boardroom for 24 and The Wheel House, which can host 14 boardroom-style or for private dining and also offers an outdoor deck area. A fully equipped business centre is also available.
The floating hotel features most of the amenities expected from its land-lubbing equivalent, with an 80-seat fine-dining restaurant, two bars, gym and spa, along with the added bonus of outdoor deck space boasting views of Canary Wharf and other Docklands sights. Sunborn is just two miles from London City Airport and an anchor’s throw from the DLR and Emirates cable car to the O2.
