'Tall' may well be the new 'boutique' and Tokyo is getting in on the act again, as Andaz makes its Japan debut on floors 47-52 of the 52-storey Toranomon Hills tower.

Launching on 11 June, the 164-room hotel is the 12th Andaz property to open across the globe and will be centrally located, between the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Tower. Toranomon Hills has been developed as part of an engineering project linking the CBD with the bay area via a 'looped road set to become one of the most popular boulevards in Tokyo'.

The hotel's interior has been designed by Tony Chi and Shinichiro Ogata and will reflect the brand's modus operandi of integrating local culture into the design, in this case using natural materials such as washi paper and Hokkaido walnut throughout the building.

Event space will include four 50m2 studios that can each hold 50 theatre-style or 30 for a reception; the Chef's Studio, which can host 12 seated or 30 for a reception with accompanying show kitchen; the 260m2 Tokyo Studio, a corner space for 220 theatre-style or 120 for a reception; and the 52nd floor Rooftop Studio, which can hold 180 theatre-style, 100 for a reception and boasts a show kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a sky garden - 'bringing al fresco dining and entertainment to new heights'.
