Up to 2,500 delegates are expected to attend the conference, which takes place across five days from 10-14 May 2016, and is expected to generate more than £5m for the city.

Darren Johnson, sales manager at Visit Brighton Convention Bureau, said: "This is great news for Brighton and the result of a real team effort between the convention bureau and the venues involved.

"Our mission is always to showcase the city and once Kenes, ESPID’s professional conference organiser (PCO), handed us that baton we really ran with it. It’s great to have been selected and we now look forward to welcoming ESPID to the city."

Due to the size of the event the conference will take place at the Brighton Centre, the south coast's largest purpose-built events centre, and the Hilton Metropole Hotel.
