The technology will turn delegates' phones or tablets into a track-and-trace device, allowing them to network through iBeacon technology, room mapping and augmented reality.

The technology allows event organisers to track footfall to and from exhibitor stands, conferences and seminar sessions, and also works with other event management applications.

Toby Lewis, managing director, The Live Group, said: "IPS (Indoor Positioning System) technology is a major development for the events industry and one that can be used to create more profitable, productive and impactful events.

"We’re the first business to use iBeacon technology in this way, and we now have a powerful product that can be easily utilised by event managers."

The IPS technology will be available from July 2014 and has already been tested at events in the UK and Europe.

Last week (19 May), GenieConnect launched an iBeacon-enabled audience response solution for the events industry.

The Live Group also recently won a contract to deliver the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) conference.
