The conference, which will take place from on 21-25 May 2016, will attract more than 7,500 delegates from 100 different countries across five days.
The 2016 conference will be the fourth time it has taken place at the Austria Centre Vienna, with the first being held in 1990. The congress has since doubled in size.
Elisabeth Hansa, sales and event management head, the Austria Centre Vienna said: "Vienna and the Austria Centre Vienna are among the top players on the international congress circuit, which is why the ERA-EDTA executive board took the decision to return in 2016."
As well as the ERA-EDTA conference, the United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) will return to the venue in October this year, while the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) congress will take place there for the first time in July.
