In Numbers: German meetings and events sector thrives

The German Convention Bureau released the findings from its latest Meetings & Events Barometer at Imex 2014. C&IT presents the key figures.

3.01 million – Number of meetings, conferences and events in Germany in 2013

1.3% – Increase on the previous year

371 million – Number of particapants in meetings and events in Germany in 2013

7,034 – Venues available in Germany last year

The number of foreign visitors increased from 14.3m in 2006 to 23.4m in 2013

84% of international event organisers expect budgets to grow in 2014

Commenting on these figures, Matthias Schultze, managing director, German Convention Bureau, said: "The internationalisation of the meeting and event market is an important trend and it provides major growth opportunities for the sector in Germany."
