Speaking at Imex 2014, the director of the Dubai Convention and Events Bureau (DCEB), Steen Jakobsen, revealed that the DAC has established its first international association, with approximately 30 other international associations in discussions and 11 in engaged in the registration process.
Jakobsen said: "Dozens of international associations are keen on utilising the opportunities presented by Dubai.
"The DAC is an ideal platform to help spur growth and will act as a springboard for international bodies looking to boost their membership numbers, find new funding opportunities and establish local and regional chapters."
The DAC launched in March in a bid to help international non-profit associations set up in the region, with benefits including use of offices at the renowned Sheikh Rashid Tower in the heart of Dubai and use of the World Trade Club facilities.
"Dubai is an untapped market for association events and we aim to be the number one association hub in the Middle East.
"It's important to try and attract all kinds of business events. Having associations in Dubai will bring in more conferences and meetings."
