The sprawling, 500-acre West Midlands venue - home to more Ryder Cups than any other - has long been a draw for golf and business groups, but had traded off its history for too long, growing tired since it last hosted the tournament in 2002.
However, to compete with the likes of fellow Ryder Cup venues Celtic Manor and, to a lesser extent, Gleneagles, some £26m has been spent on improvements across the resort, including: all 319 bedrooms; Sam's Bar; the Brabazon Bar and arrival area; Bel Air nightclub; and the golf shop. New additions include the signature Ryder Grill restaurant; leisure club and Simply THE Spa; and 'Market Place' coffee shop.
The Belfry's 20 event spaces completed their facelift in January 2014, and range from six boardrooms seating 12 to the Woodland suite, which can host 400 theatre-style. Each can be fully A/V equipped.
The main attraction remains its three 18-hole golf courses - in particular the iconic Brabazon - but The Belfry's new 'modern classic' look, combined with its central location just 20 minutes from Birmingham city centre and airport, will cement its place as a significant player in UK meetings and events.
