On Tuesday night (13 May) a selection of travel buyers attended the Viceroy Showcase, which featured a selection of the hotel's luxury properties from the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, Abu Dhabi and the Maldives. The event took place on the 39th and 40th floors of The Gherkin in the exclusive Searcys Club.
Taking place on the same evening at the Montreux Jazz Cafe in Harrods was Montreux Riveria tourist board's hotel and venue showcase. The hosts took the opportunity to educate guests on the corporate hospitality opportunities at this year's Montreux Jazz Festival, which takes place from 4-16 July 2014.
On Wednesday night (14 May) Chew Events officially launched in front of 100 event professionals at Earlham Street Clubhouse in Covent Garden. Co-founders Richard Brown and Matthew Curran took the opportunity to welcome guests from Barclays, Sony and Teva as well as a selection of venues and suppliers. Curran revealed this week that the agency has won accounts with Google, Twinings and Investigo.
C&IT also attended the launch of Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza – the brand's first European property – and its 'gastronomic experience' Sublimotion last night (15 May) at Il Bottaccio Luxury Venue in London. Created by double-Michelin-starred chef Pac Roncero and claimed to be the world's most expensive restaurant, the Sublimotion concept will set each of 12 diners back an eye-watering £1,225. Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza opens on Sunday (18 May).
