The Hydro14 Committee was awarded funding from Visit Scotland’s National Subvention Fund, which was put in place to attract more business tourism to Scotland.

Hydro14 is the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies Annual International Conference, which takes place from 28-30 October. The event is expected to attract more than 350 international delegates and will also feature a large exhibition in addition to the conference.

Brian Horsburgh, managing director, AECC, said: "Aberdeen is currently attracting a high level of international conference business which is great for the Region.

"This particular conference is of great relevance to the area as it has a strong link to our core industries of oil and gas as well as the links to the fishing industry."

The AECC announced last month that it had secured the European Society for Rural Sociology (ESRS) congress with the help of Visit Scotland’s National Subvention Fund.

The congress will take place from 18-21 August 2015 and will welcome more than 400 delegates to the venue.
