Paris knocks Vienna off top spot in ICCA rankings

Paris is the new number one city for association meetings, knocking Vienna off the top after nine years, while London slips one place to seventh.

The International Congress and Conventions Association’s (ICCA) annual rankings list the most popular countries and cities to host association meetings.

In this year’s report on 2013, Paris has climbed one place to become the new number one city, followed by Madrid, which climbed two places. Vienna has slipped from the top spot, which it has held since 2005. Paris and Vienna shared the number one rank in 2008.

London has slipped one place to seventh, missing it's pre-Olympics target of getting in to the top 5.

Barcelona climbs one place to fourth and Berlin moves from third to fifth place. Singapore remains sixth (which it shared with London last year). Istanbul has climbed one place to eighth and Lisbon and Seoul, both newcomers in the top 10, share ninth place.

In 2013, ICCA recorded 11,685 regularly occurring association events – an increase of 535 year-on-year.
