Heathrow Airport has been chosen to receive Etihad Airways' inaugural Airbus A380 Superjumbo flight from Abu Dhabi.

The airline's first Superjumbos and Boeing 787 Dreamliners will consist of nine 'apartments', as well as a three-room cabin known as 'The Residence', which features a bedroom, lounge, shower room and a butler.

The new cabins will feature on the first A380 service from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow on 27 December, with tickets for 'The Residence' costing more than £11,000.

Ther service will continue to fly from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow throughout early 2015 before being introduced to the Sydney and New York services later in the year.
