Marriott International has announced plans to open 14 new properties in the Middle East and Africa over the next two years.

Marriott Hotels has confirmed that it will open two new properties in Dubai’s outdoor City Walk development in 2016 with the Dubai Marriott Hotel City Walk and Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai City Walk.

The hotel chain will also develop the new 312-room Renaissance Dubai Downtown Hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2015. In total, Marriott International now operates 12 properties in the UAE across five separate brands.

Marriott will open three hotels in Saudi Arabia within the next two years with the Courtyard by Marriott Al Khobar, the Residence Inn by Marriott Al Khobar and the Residence Inn by Marriott Jazan, which is scheduled to open in Q4 of 2014.

Plans in Africa

Marriott International’s Protea Hotels brand will develop a further eight new properties in Africa, five of which are set to open in 2015 in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and Rwanda. The eight new properties will add an extra 890 rooms to its Africa portfolio.
