The Shard's Shangri-La hotel finally opens

The £40m Shangri-La hotel at The Shard in London has finally opened today (6 May), after a two-year delay.

The Shangri-La hotel, located in Western Europe's tallest building, has been one of London's most anticipated hotel openings in recent years.

The hotel has 202 rooms and a range of events spaces for up to 200 people, including an infinity pool. 

Room rates are set to start at £450 and suites as much as £3,250 a night.

The hotel opened for event bookings on 17 March and its events team was innundated with enquiries, 60% of which were for corporate events, as revealed in C&IT's 60 Seconds...with event director Ashleigh Stevens.
