After University, Nicola started as the receptionist at an events agency that worked primarily in the public sector, before moving over to the events team. After a year out travelling, she joined Powwow events.

Boss says: "Nic was recently promoted to event director here at Powwow and deservedly so," says Katy Johns, director. "She is passionate about her role and always gives 110 per cent. Nic is very popular with our clients, suppliers and the internal team because she oozes enthusiasm, is very empathetic and always delivers."

Best event I've worked on: An incentive to Budapest. We worked with the client's team onsite as an extension of their team and all of the delegates thoroughly enjoyed themselves, which was really rewarding.

Most challenging moment: The biggest challenge was working on a very high-profile event, and dealing with a power cut and a projector failing just moments before the key speaker was about to walk on to the stage. I had to remain very calm and ensure the client was updated throughout, providing reassurance.

Client I'd like to work with: I would love to do a social event for the GB ski team on the slopes as I am a keen skier.

Alternative career: If I had not followed a career in events, I would have liked to have been a forensic scientist. I really enjoy detail and finding solutions.

Goals before 40: I have recently become event director so I want to embrace the promotion and develop my skills in this role. I have also just become a mother so my next goal before I reach 40 is to thrive in my career while being a good mum.
