Luke joined Crown straight out of university after graduating in 2010. The role started as a two-day internship and then led to a full-time job as project coordinator. He became project manager in February last year.

Boss says: "Luke was a core member of the team working on a Global Leadership Conference for the top 200 senior managers of a global beverages client," says Nicky Havelaar, managing director. "He worked to extremely tight deadlines in a challenging environment, creating maximum brand impact and his attention to detail, can-do attitude and persistence all contributed to a hugely successful event."

Best event I've worked on: We did a four-day global leadership conference in Cape Town for a drinks company and 300 of their top staff. At the welcome evening we created four bespoke bars with a nightclub and fake beach.

Most challenging moment: At the Sony World Photography Awards, we had to create something that could move inside Somerset House on a small budget. We created London landmarks out of paper.

Client I'd like to work with: I think the dating scene is booming and ever changing, and I think you could do some cool experiential stuff with that on a small budget.

Alternative career: I would probably be in marketing and advertising. I think it helps to know a lot about events in those industries.

Goals before 40: Crown offers a two-month paid sabbatical after four years at the company so I qualify for that this year. I never look more than a year in advance.
