Caroline Strachan is to join American Express Global Business Travel as VP of global business consulting for EMEA, after five year years at AstraZeneca.

Strachan joined AstraZeneca as global commercial lead for business travel management in 2009 from Yahoo, where she had led the international travel programme. She has also worked for Cisco and HRG, and spent six years at American Express between 1995 and 2001.

In the new role, Strachan will oversee the sales and delivery of consulting engagements to American Express Global Business Travel clients in the EMEA region. The Global Business Consulting team provides consultancy services including strategic sourcing, programme optimisation and business intelligence to help clients better manage their travel spend.

Strachan has also chaired the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) in Europe and the Institute of Travel & Meetings (ITM) in the UK.
