Carly started working at Flight Centre in 2002 and from there went to Club Med, which is when she realised she wanted to move into events. She worked for a few event agencies including CI Events before joining BCD M&I in 2013.

Boss says: Senior director of operations Sue Burgess says: "In my opinion Carly Gargett is a natural leader. Any client, team and event is safe in her hands."

Best event I've worked on: The London 2012 Olympics was the best just because of the general buzz around the event and it was great being part of something so big.

Most challenging moment: I worked on the AstraZeneca National Sales Conference for 350 people over five days. We had two conferences that ran simultaneously, with dinners across 11 different restaurants on one of the nights. There was a lot of logistics involved in that.

Client I'd like to work with: I think Red Bull and Virgin have really quirky ideas and you could do some really fun things for them.

Alternative career: I would be a TV reporter. A friend and I did some reporting around the Royal birth, which was a lot of fun.

Goals before 40: Juggling a high-flying career and a couple of kids.
