The first global sports event Michiel worked on was the 2008 Beijing Olympics with ATP Event Experts. In 2012, he worked for the Organisers Committee for the London Olympics as client groups sales executive, before rejoining ATPI in 2013.

Boss says: "Michiel's sharp analysis and growing international network makes him a key member of our sports team," says Jeroen de Roever, head of Sports Strategy, ATPI Group. "He has a sharp mind in corporate sports events, understanding the complicated nature of it all, but making it feel easy for our clients. I'm looking forward to making great strides in expanding ATPI Group's sports business with him in the coming years."

Best event I've worked on: Working with the organising committee at the 2012 London Olympics was a crazy and inspiring experience.

Most challenging moment: During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, lots of the clients decided they wanted to go at the last minute, so we had to convince the organising committee to release more tickets, which was challenging.

Client I'd like to work with: A global sports event sponsor. I've already worked with an agency and an organising committee, so this would complete the circle.

Alternative career: I'd love to be a sports coach. The dedication, emotion and concentration involved is amazing.

Goals before 40: I would like to triple the sports presence of the ATPI Group within the industry and learn a new language.
