Meetings Professionals International (MPI) is launching a series of 'boot camps' and events to help planners qualify for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) qualification.

The UK and Ireland Chapter of MPI will be launching a series of boot camps and MPI Learns events that will help qualify attendees for eligibility and prepare them for taking Convention Industry Council's CMP exam.

A recent agreement with Prometric now means the exam can be sat in the UK, in Manchester and London, for the first time.

MPI has also held a number of Corporate Advisory Boards with input from several blue chip corporate event organisers.

Liz Rice, VP of certification for MPI UK and Ireland and director at Metro Broadcast, said: "The industry wants an independently accredited recognised certification that can raise peer acceptance, and MPI, as part of the CIC, is able to deliver the relevant education content.

"This is vital for those involved in Strategic Meetings Management Programmes and for anybody justifying the need and the value of events and meetings within their organisation, be they an agency or corporate buyer."

Miguel Neves, president MPI UK and Ireland and community manager at IMEX Group, said: "We have held a number of Corporate Advisory Boards with input from a number of high-level blue chip corporate event organisers. This is not a simple exam or eligibility process. It has gravitas and the feedback from our corporate advisors is this is exactly what they want."

More: Certification for event planners 'more important than ever', says MPI
