Goedegebuure announced in November that he would be stepping down as sales director of Glasgow's Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in January 2014 to join Maritz in February in the newly created role of global general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In the role, Goedegebuure will lead the company’s Global Meetings Network, counsel and support client engagements and continue the company’s in-market industry advocacy, education and leadership efforts.

David Peckinpaugh, president of Maritz Travel Company, which includes Maritz Travel and Experient said: "Ben’s contributions in the EMEA markets are extraordinary; he has been a true pioneer in developing and growing business within these markets."

Eduardo Chaillo, representing Latin America and Mexico, joins Goedegebuure and Ping He, who represents the Asia Pacific region.

Goedegebuure said: "Maritz Travel Company is an organisation that I always enjoyed working with because of their ability to not just deliver on the logistics, but because of their attention to design and delivery in creating highly relevant and meaningful experiences.

"I’m excited to be able to help bring together a new level of experiential excellence through a more collaborative local and global approach."

Following Goedegebuure's announcement in November, the SECC's CEO John Sharkey announced that he will also be stepping down in 2014.
