Event marketing and Strategic Meetings Management technology provider Active Network Business Solutions Group is splitting from its parent company in a merger with Lanyon, which specialises in technology programmes for hotels.

The combined company, which will operate under the name Lanyon, serves meeting planners, travel planners, buyers, event marketing teams, as well as hotels and meeting suppliers.

JR Sherman, president and chief revenue officer at Lanyon, said: "For corporate buyers, this merger provides access to a solutions for meetings and events management, as well as hotel spend. It also provide integrated data and analytics, enabling visibility across all of an organisation’s hospitality, and meetings and events activities.

"The Lanyon suite is designed to make the meeting planner’s life easier and give procurement and marketing the data they crave to make more informed decisions. Hotels and meeting venues are now able to access a broader audience of planners and buyers, from the smallest businesses to the largest enterprises across multiple verticals."

In July 2013, Active Network, which counts HP and Cisco as clients, announced that it had powered its 25,000th event in EMEA after opening its new London office
