The £30m investment is aiming to help turn Savoy Place into a technologically advanced and low-carbon venue, which will help organisers make their events more sustainable.

The redevelopment includes a second lecture theatre and a refurbishment of the venue’s Riverside Suite, increasing its capacity by 50%.

Sean Spencer, venues and facilities manager at IET Venues, said: "Our flagship London home has become known for its prestige, facilities and location and this major refurbishment demonstrates our commitment to keeping this event space relevant to members and customers so that it continues to meet their changing needs."

The refurbishment began in August 2013 and is expected to be complete by autumn 2015.
