The venue can cater for a range of events for corporate and private clients.

Hire Space, a London-based venue-finding website in charge of marketing the venue, revealed that when the announcement was made it received more than £27,000 worth of enquiries in two hours.

Edward Poland, co-founder and COO of Hire Space, said: "The venue can hold a broad range of events as it is a very flexible space.

"The enquires we received included product launches, PR events, Christmas parties and a range of other private and corporate events."

Keith Davis, managing director of Borough Market added: "Borough Market has a long and rich history and we are proud to be opening up our wonderful market space for events for the very first time.

"Whilst the heart of the markets business remains our bustling trading market, it’s exciting that we are now able to explore the full potential of the diverse market environment and allow even more people to experience this unique space"
