Rocco Forte Hotels has put Manchester-based The Lowry Hotel up for sale to fund expansion into mainland Europe.

The five-star Lowry offers a number of meeting rooms for events, including The Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 and has hosted major brands including Porsche.

Meanwhile, celebrity guests have included Tony Blair, Kylie Minogue, Bono and Beyonce.

The hotel was first placed on the market in 2007, but taken off the market last July after six years in which no offer was accepted.

The hotel group is looking at potentially selling the building but being kept on a management contact to manage and market The Lowry.
