The London Ambassador Programme aims to establish the city as a global hub for medical advancement and discovery.
Gordon Innes, chief executive of London & Partners, said: "By launching this initiative we are recognising the vital role that our industry leaders play in promoting the great city of London on the global stage.
"We are working in partnership with senior professionals and academics to raise London’s profile internationally and help attract industry events and congresses to this city."
One of the largest congresses that London has secured in recent years is the European Society of Cardiology's annual congress, which will attract up to 30,000 medical professionals in 2015. It is the first time the event has returned to London for 60 years.
The ambassador programme was launched at the Museum of London on Tuesday (21 January).
