Christmas parties: where did the agencies celebrate?

C&IT asked three agencies to describe the Christmas party celebrations they put on to recognise their staff's hard work in 2013.

Event agencies spend all year helping their clients – see C&IT's round-up: Corporate Christmas parties – motivate and reward their staff, so Christmas is the perfect opportunity to reward their own teams. We asked three agencies of different sizes what they did to celebrate the festive season and motivate their teams for the year ahead.

DRP Group

"It's always been an ambition of mine to take the whole business away over Christmas for our conference and last year, being the best in our history, felt like the perfect time to do it," says DRP group managing director Dale Parmenter. The group chartered a flight to Austria and enjoyed a programme of activities at the Flachau resort, which included off-road Segway driving, quad biking and an alpine roller coaster. The main conference was run at the Crowne Plaza and recapped a highly successful year and prepared the team with strategies for the coming year. This was followed by the annual DRP Group Brilliance awards that reward and recognise exceptional performance from the past year.

In2Events

"We're quite a small company so Accomplished Events, our team-building partners, organised our Christmas party at the Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest," said In2Events marketing manager Richard Harper. The evening began with an interactive quiz, with two teams. There was a Pictionary round, a cake-making round and a balloon-making round. During the evening Secret Santa prizes, provided by the company, were given out. The quiz was followed by dinner, drinks and music.

Crown

"The staff Christmas party is an opportunity for us to reward our staff for all their hard work and commitment throughout the year," says Crown managing director Nicky Havelaar. Each year, a Christmas Committee is appointed, which gives younger members of the team, who aren't necessarily involved in organising events, the opportunity to explore that side of the business. "This year, we created a bespoke go-karting experience, which galvanised the teams and brought out everyone's competitive spirit. To mark our imminent move to Soho, we had dinner at Kettners - a fantastic afternoon and evening to round off a great year," says Havelaar.
