Bellis joins from Marketing Cheshire, and has also worked for a number of agencies and hotel groups in London and abroad.

Bellis said: "The next two years are very important for Liverpool as we build our reputation as a compelling business and tourist destination with the International Festival for Business and a major cultural programme in 2014, and the completion of ACC's £40m exhibition Centre Liverpool in 2015."

Chris Brown, director of Marketing Liverpool, said: "Emma has joined Marketing Liverpool at a very exciting time for the city with the International Festival for Business now just six months away and at a time when we are working ever more closely with the private sector on a range of key projects, including Liverpool at Mipim (European Real Estate event)."

The ACC Liverpool will host the Swinton Group's annual sales conference tomorrow (18 January), which will feature a 'Gogglebox' spoof.

The BBC Worldwide showcase will also return to the ACC Liverpool this year.
