Shangri-La's delayed Lhasa hotel to open in 2014

The Shangri-La Lhasa hotel in Tibet, originally due to open in 2012, will open in April 2014.

The 289-room Shangri-La hotel has a 1,215sqm ballroom, which is the largest in the city. 

The breakout area leads to an outdoor terrace that overlooks the surrounding mountain range and Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and traditional residence of the Dalai Lamas. 

From Lhasa, guests can travel by car to Tibet's holy lakes.

The property also has an international restaurant, outdoor tapas bar and lounge.

Meanwhile, the Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard in London has not confirmed an opening date.
