Cheryl Hammerschlag has joined Banks Sadler's US office from EGR International, a New York-based engagement agency, after Saxon Heffernan returned to the UK in December.

Heffernan moved to New York in July 2012 to set up the agency's North American office. He is now working for Banks Sadler's London office in a freelance capacity.

Heffernan told C&IT: "With Cheryl's experience and background in the US meetings market, she is the perfect candidate to take over what we've established so far and grow that exponentially."

Hammerschlag said: "My role is to build our US-based client roster, strengthen Banks Sadler’s relationship with US hotels and suppliers, and expand our office by finding the most dedicated and talented event and meeting managers."

In August, Banks Sadler's US office secured an event contract with the UN.

Hammerschlag added: "Our largest account win this year has been the UN. We are continuing to grow our relationship with the UN and have secured the UN Global Compact Caring for Climate Symposium for 2014 and 2015. We are also beginning work on the UN Sustainable Energy for All event which is tentatively slated to take place in New York City the summer of 2014."
