The plans for Seoul include the implementation of a new infrastructure with the aim of increasing the city’s meeting capacity. This will involve plans to build a brand new convention centre as well as developing several dedicated business event zones.
2014 is already promising to be an important year for Seoul with the opening of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, designed by architect Zaha Hadid, which covers more than 85,000m2 of event space and is located adjacent to the newly unveiled Conrad Hotel.
The Seoul Convention Bureau said the city has been calling out for further infrastructure developments in order to grow as an events destination.
Seoul is already being ranked as one of the top five convention cities in the world by the Union of International Association (UIA).
