Congrex Holland future uncertain

The future of professional conference organiser (PCO) Congrex Holland remains uncertain, following the collapse of Congrex Holding last month.

A question mark remains over Congrex Holland after parent company Congrex Holding was declared bankrupt in early October.

Congrex Holland, led by managing director Jarno de Boer, is the last European office to finalise its future. The office in Amsterdam employs 25 staff.

Talking to C&IT, de Boer said: "Congrex Holland is fully operational. We are looking into a number of options to move the business forward. Three parties are speaking to administrators. A management buy out is a possibility.

"For the moment, it is business as usual. We are working on a lot of projects for 2014, so we can deliver a good service for our clients. We are keeping staff and clients informed on the changes that are coming. We aim to reach a solution before the end of the year."

Outside of Europe, Congrex's offices in Panama and Venezuela are expected to finalise their futures in the coming weeks.

Following the collapse of Congrex Holding last month, Congrex UK completed a management buy-out, rebranding as Contendam. The business is being headed up by Congrex UK's former chief operating officer Rob Harrison.

The assets, 19 staff and client contracts of Congrex Belgium were acquired by MCI Brussels earlier this month and last week Congrex Switzerland announced the completion of a management buy-out.
