The campaign is designed to lobby for extending the capacity of the UK's airports and has received the signatures of more than 100 business leaders from organisations and companies including the BVEP, the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers, various Chambers of Commerce, Excel London, and London First.

Simon Hughes, vice-chair of BVEP, said: "The capacity of our airports is one of a series of barriers to growth in the UK winning more events business, so we're delighted to put our support behind this campaign.

"Alongside Air Passenger Duty, the limitations of our airports are reducing the competitiveness of the UK in being an attractive location in which to hold international events and one where they would choose to return as leisure travellers."
