Hong Kong looks forward to convention growth

Hong Kong's profile and international appeal as a C&I destination has received a significant boost this year.

This is according to Meetings and Exhibitions Hong Kong (MEHK), a division of Hong Kong Tourism Board. In 2014 Hong Kong will play host to a number of conferences, including the International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting, IEEE International Conference Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2014 and International Conference on Emergency Medicine

Conventions hosted this year included the Global Spine Congress 2013, World Congress of Nephrology, 9th Asian Dermatological Congress, Asia Pacific Stroke Conference, 45th Congress of International Society of Paediatric Oncology, Wikimania and the 6th Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Congress & CardioRhythm 2013.

These international conventions brought in 14,500 delegates which contributed an estimated HK$148 million (Eur 14.8 million) to the local economy.

"MEHK enjoyed great success in 2013 and will continue to grow and innovate in 2014 as we welcome several major international conventions to the city," said Dawn Page, Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Director of UK & Northern Europe.
