Slater joins from Speakeasy Productions in Perth and has worked for a number of major private and public organisations delivering events ranging from public engagement events, exhibitions and conferences, AGMs, business award ceremonies and roadshows.

RHASS chief executive Stephen Hutt said: "We are delighted to welcome Kathryn to the society. She brings with her an impressive track record in delivering high-profile events and we are confident she is the right person for the job."

Eat, Drink, Discover Scotland will showcase the rich diversity of Scotland’s regional produce for both businesses and consumers and will take place from 12-14 September 2014 at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh.

The event is set to generate more than £1m for the Scottish economy in its first year.

Slater added: "This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in developing a flagship event for one of Scotland's most important industries. RHASS is a unique organisation and I am confident that together we will create an exceptional showcase for Scottish food and drink."
