The Events Alliance will work in partnership with event organisers to increase the number of UK and overseas trade-related events supported by UKTI. It comes as part of UKTI's wider brief to increase businesses’ export activity and attract more inward investment.

The alliance is able to support SMEs in any sector and provide services including the promotion of events, attendance by UKTI officials, hosting of networking opportunities and a pavilion at specific events, and provision of knowledge and territory market intelligence.

UKTI is looking to encourage more companies to export, increasing core events from 75 this year to 300 next year, and to support event organisers across the UK.

Michael Hirst, chairman of the BVEP, said: "The agenda of UKTI in growing their international presence is aligned with that of partners of the BVEP in showcasing their products and services to a global marketplace. We're delighted that UKTI have recognised the role events play in attracting inward investment and international business growth."

UKTI will now have a seat at the partnership as part of its commitment to the events industry. It will also work with Britain for Events to disseminate more information about the services to the whole events industry.
