The central London cultural and arts centre delivered 192 events between October 2012 and October 2013, compared with 123 events over the previous 12 months.
PR agencies booked 32% of the 192 events delivered, compared with 11% the previous year.
Experiential events rose in popularity, making up 18% of events between October 2012 and October 2013. The majority of those bookings were made on behalf of clients in the fashion, wine and cultural sectors.
Functions held this year in Somerset House’s Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court include Nike’s Flyknit Experience and the London launch of the If anti-hunger campaign.
Emma Barrow, head of events at Somerset House, said: "We are very pleased about the growing demand from the PR industry, as we have worked hard to gain exposure and attract clients within this market. London Fashion Week in particular has definitely contributed in raising our profile in the fashion sector.
"With the consistent growth in our visitor figures, we are expecting experiential events to become increasingly vital to our events business."
