The 171-bedroom property, a former office building close to Brick Lane and The City in the capital’s east end, opened for a soft launch earlier this month ahead of its official opening on 12 November.
It is the second Qbic property, following the launch of Qbic Hotel Amsterdam WTC in 2007, and is backed by investor Bridges Ventures. Qbic plans to grow its concept in London and other major cities.
Features of the hotel include self-service check-in, pop-up food stations in the lobby, temporary art exhibitions and bespoke furniture. The bedrooms each feature a futuristic cube-shaped ‘living box’, called a ‘Cubi’.
The hotel aims to engage with the local community, recruiting at least half of its staff locally and partnering with the charities Food Cycle and Bikeworks, which help to train and assist people back into work. Prices start from £59 per room per night, including breakfast and high-speed WiFi.
