The venue has promoted Maria Cena, previously senior sales manager, to the position of commercial manager. She will take charge of the sales and marketing strategy, with the aim of maximising all revenue opportunities.

Iain Moffat has joined the company as operations manager from IET Savoy Place, where he had the same role, with the aim of improving operations and function catering.

Other new recruits include Jade Harrison, previously sales executive at the Science Museum, who joins as business development executive, and AV technician Pawan Shastri. Sophie Duboisset is now sales executive at the venue.

Alicia Duncan, general manager of The Mermaid, said: "I’m very pleased to welcome the new team members and their various fields of expertise as we move in to 2014. This is a very exciting time for The Mermaid, as the restructure has been brought about to strengthen our position in the market place."
