Future focus for Business Tourism Scotland conference

Delegates at next month's Business Tourism Scotland conference at Glasgow's SECC will learn how the industry can engage with the future and 'Generation Y'.

More than 300 people are expected at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow, on 11 November to hear how to maximise opportunities through the use of groundbreaking technology and trends.

An industry steering group has worked with Visit Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Marketing Edinburgh, Dundee and Angus Convention Bureau, and Visit Aberdeen to organise the event.

Speakers will include Dr Paul Redmond, who has studied generational theory and how businesses can engage effectively with 'Baby Boomers', 'Generation X', 'Generation Y' and the 'Millennials'; event producer Clare Amsel; Million Dollar Round Table director Ray Kopcinski; and personality profiling expert Chris Elmitt.

Business tourism is worth £1.9bn to the Scottish economy, according to Visit Scotland.

Fergus Ewing, Scotland’s tourism minister, said: "Business tourism has moved from being perceived as a niche part of Scotland’s overall tourism sector, to become one of the principle focuses and interests.

"This not only makes a contribution to our economy, it is also an opportunity to showcase Scotland to business tourists as a premiere location to invest, study, live, work and visit – again and again."
