With the introduction of Windows 8 and Office 13 software, UK distributor Westcoast devised a brilliant new way to reach their resellers, train them and boost sales.
One of the challenges was training 525 resellers in all areas of the UK and Ireland, simultaneously using social media to build anticipation for a roadshow. So, the Windows 8-branded double-decker Westcoast Bus was devised, which then visited locations where resellers could be trained via onboard workstations.
Attendees were encouraged to tweet their pictures from training sessions. These were then circulated to those who had completed the training, as well as those who had training to come.
A total of 1,052 resellers completed the training and there was a dropout rate of just 4% against a 30% target. Against a target of £1.7m, a massive £42.5m in sales was achieved via attendees.
