What's the lowdown?

Touch Associates launched in January 2012 after ex-Universal chairman and managing director Patrick Collins and Mike Ford had teamed up with Grass Roots Eventcom's former managing director Nick Bender and Universal's US operations director Colette Murphy.

With 20 staff based in its UK office in Leatherhead, Surrey, Touch Associates has clients including healthcare companies GlaxoSmithKline and Allergan, and financial advisors Foster Denovo.

Earlier this year, it created a charity gala dinner to mark the 40th anniversary of Landmark Wholesale. The event for 800 people, which included entertainment from a military marching band, Last Night of the Proms choir and ABBA parody act Bjorn Again, raised more than £120,000 on the night for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Keech Hospice Care.

Why shine the light?

Touch Associates won the contract to deliver Spar’s 2014 convention in Singapore after the company’s previous events agency was unable to commit to the dates.

The biennial event, which is taking place from May 4-9 at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa on Sentosa Island, is expected to attract about 350 Spar retailers and partners. Touch Associates has appointed Roger Parker, who has worked with Spar in the past, as an account director to lead the project.

The agency, which launched in January 2012, generated £1.16 million in turnover in its first year, with operating losses of £17,000.
