For international corporate event organisers planning hospitality and other events alongside the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, what can Tokyo offer?

The opportunities in Tokyo for corporate event organisers are endless. As a destination, it is very appealing and exotic. The culture, history and traditions are only some of the elements that will create memorable experiences with some clever event planning.

In my view, there will be a genuine and high interest for Tokyo from completely new corporate audiences. Also, we should not forget, the easy accessibility from every major city in the world. The key here will be, not only early planning, but a complete package and experience from the departure point until the return. Not 'half-baked' packages based on highlights but rather a smooth and complete A-Z experience.

What new infrastructure will Tokyo have?

There will be many opportunities just before and after the games for event planners, but I believe the 'Tokyo Bay Zone' development, as it was called in Tokyo's bid presentation, will be the most interesting development following the games.

Panos Tzivanidis joined the IOC in June after two years with Uefa.
