The new events spaces, masterminded by architects Wilkinson Eyre, will be inspired by the destination’s theme of 'highlighting connections between medicine and art'.

The conference centre’s interior will also be refreshed, with medical science organisations targeted. The Medicine Now gallery, which can host drinks receptions, will gain a 'dynamic staircase' through which the gallery will be accessed.

The Wellcome Collection, which opened six years ago, can accommodate up to 510 delegates across its seven spaces.

During the first half of 2013, more than 650 corporate events took place at the Wellcome Collection, with all profits going to the Wellcome Trust.
