The International Zeolite Association members voted for the Western Australian city during a recent conference in Moscow, Russia.
The economic impact for the conference to Western Australia is estimated at AU$4.4m (£2.37m).
Zeolite is a natural occurring mineral that can be created synthetically. It is used to absorb, hold, release, and exchange different chemicals, nutrients, toxins and ions.
The 1,000-delegate conference in Perth in 2019 will be held to share knowledge between world leading scientific and chemical professionals.
Paul Beeson, CEO of Perth Convention Bureau said, he was "delighted with this win which will place Western Australia in an important position ".
Perth’s bid was led by the director of marketing at Perth Convention Bureau Sue Stepatschuk, and the Curtin Engineering team, headed by the dean of engineering Moses Tade, attended the 17th International Zeolite Conference in Moscow in July to present the bid to association members.
