WRG plans China expansion after re-branding Hong Kong acquisition

WRG is re-branding Hong Kong-based Serious Events, the business it acquired last year, to gain a foothold in China.

Serious Events will be re-badged WRG, as the agency plans further expansion in China.

Serious Events, which boasts clients including Christian Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, was acquired from Serious Staging in November 2012.

The acquisition extended WRG’s sector expertise and geographical reach, adding Hong Kong to its list of offices, which also includes London, Manchester, Abu Dhabi, Doha and New York.

The Hong Kong team, led by general manager Cliff Zenker, has moved into new offices within the St John's Building on Garden Road in Hong Kong’s Central Business District.

Zenker said: "Since the acquisition of Serious Events, we’ve grown our presence working with international clients in Hong Kong and China who’ve benefited from our heritage and understanding of the local market.

"As our clients also gain advantage through increased collaboration with WRG’s offices across the world and the depth of our sector expertise, it is the right time to bring Serious Events under the WRG umbrella."
