Pat Holmes has become acting head of event solutions and UK sales, and Rob Ellwood takes the role of business development manager for Europe.

The appointments aim to bolster London & Partners' objectives in winning new business events for the city from the UK and European markets.

Holmes joins the team from the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) where she worked as London Logistics 2012 Co-ordinator during Games time.

Prior to this, she was instrumental in raising the profile of East London’s business tourism offering at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, where she created the ‘London Eastside’ brand to attract meeting planners and event organisers to the area. London Eastside worked on major bids for associations and corporate clients in conjunction with London & Partners, Excel London, and many other stakeholders.

Ellwood also joins from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, promoting the area as a business and visitor destination for almost 9 years by working in partnership with key eastside stakeholders.

He played a pivotal role alongside Pat at London Eastside and The View – an inward investment marketing suite. During this time he managed a portfolio of 50 unique east London venues and hotels.

Ellwood said: "The Olympic Games last year certainly set the pace in establishing the eastside of London as an exciting place to be, and I am delighted that this new role allows me go further to promote the whole of London as a vibrant, diverse and ever-evolving business city."

Tracy Halliwell, director of Business Tourism, said: "Both Pat and Rob have played a crucial role in London’s meetings and events industry to date, and the team at London & Partners have demonstrably benefited from working together with these key industry figures in recent years. We are very much looking forward to keeping the momentum going and identifying new opportunities."
