Bunting, who joins Grass Roots on 9 September, has held various positions over the last 13 years at Ernst and Young – most recently as head of business development UK & Ireland. Previously he was with Bass PLC and Scottish & Newcastle PLC .

Based in Grass Roots’ headquarters in Tring, Hertfordshire, Bunting will lead the company’s sales and business development efforts and will report to the Group’s CEO, Richard Bandell.

Bunting will sit on the Grass Roots Group Board along with group CEO Richard Bandell, COO Andy Lister and FD Russell Clutton, supported by a strong non-executive contingent of business and industry experts and representatives from major shareholder WPP PLC.

This appointment supports other recent arrivals at Grass Roots, including that of CEO Richard Bandell and Jeremy Brown, the new leader for the events and communications division of Grass Roots Meetings and Events in Marlow. Each selection has been carefully considered by the group board and strengthens the senior team.

Bandell said: "John has an excellent and proven track record alongside the vision, tenacity and passion that we are looking for in a commercial director for Grass Roots. We’re excited to welcome him on board and have him further support our talented team in order to realise our vision for growth across the company."

Bunting said: "I’m delighted to be taking on this new challenge and join the Grass Roots family. I’m looking forward to leading a winning team in the next stage of the development of this great company."
