'Stakeholders' biggest barrier to event technology, says Schroders' Stapleton

Schroders' events manager Viki Stapleton cited stakeholders as the biggest barrier to implementing new event technology, while speaking at Tech Fest 2013 yesterday (18 July).

Viki Stapleton, events manager for Schroders, the global asset management company, presented a case study on how technology has been integrated into Schroders' events, with the help of Eventsforce, an online events management company.

Stapleton said: "The biggest barrier to implenting new technology was the people. The technology was fine - if you get the right geeks together it works, but was the biggest challenge was getting internal buy-in from senior management who thought a hard copy of the events programme was enough to get delegates to the event.

"We gradually got over this and we go through Eventsforce for everything because people are used to using an online registration process now."

Tech Fest 2013 kicked off yesterday at Dexter House in London and continues today.
