MCI UK's rise in operating profit to £167,000 in 2012 was attributed to an increased attention on cost control and lower staff costs.

Staff numbers dropped in 2012 from 69 to 61, reducing staff costs by 9% to 2.2m. Temporary staff were used during busy periods.

Profit before tax increased by 11% and profit after tax rose to £121,000.

MCI UK is anticipating growth in 2013 and has already secured 50% of budgeted revenues for the year.

In 2012, MCI reported a 12% margin hike following its acquisition of Oxford International.

MCI UK's managing director Jennifer Jenkins said: "The 6% rise in operating profit is thanks to our clients, and our teams who continue to develop existing accounts. In 2013, we wil continuing to offer new services, particularly addressing the growing need for social and digital media strategies."
